Julie Duryea

Julie spent the first four ½ years of her career at Bain & Company, an international management consulting firm. In a quest to make a difference, she left Bain to teach English at Crenshaw High School. Her work with youth extended to being a Director for Yoga for Youth , a non-profit organization that helps reform at-risk youth with yoga.

More recently, she developed two programs for the Oregon Bus Project: PolitiCorps, a ten-week, political and leadership internship for college students, and Trick or Vote, Oregon's largest non-partisan political canvass.

Starting a business has always been a dream. The suboptimal experience of having worked at home coupled with the observation of the coffee shop as a satellite office signaled an unmet market need. Equally inspired by Portland's strong community spirit, she sought to create a business that would be a community additive as well as support the growing creative class.

Her community involvement spans Junior Achievement, LA's Best, SEI, Young Women Social Entrepreneurs, Ladies Who Launch, Leadership Portland and Portland Public Schools.

Julie graduated cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in English Literature and studied abroad her junior year in Poitiers, France.

Cycling, cross-country skiing, hiking, cooking, writing and travel are among her interests.

Among her sins are off-track betting, fine wine, and Cheetos.
